“ I had the Dalgona Coffee and Mocha Fudge on a waffle cone. Really good ice cream! My gf had the strawberry shortcake and birthday cake for her option. I preferred mine better but the birthday cake stood out from others I've had. The staff were nice and allowed us to sample some flavors before we decided. I will for sure check the menu ahead of time before i get choice paralysis and also check out their grill items. ”
“ We love Joe's! Their Ice Creams are delicious, and so many flavors to choose from! We love their Toasted Almond! We also ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, which we loved! They make everything to order, garlic fries as well! Service is attentive and friendly, and the ambience is very inviting and so kid friendly! Street parking is not difficult, there is also a metered parking lot on 18th Avenue. ”
“ Stopped in on a dark evening after having dinner nearby and in search of a sweet treat. To our delight we found this delightful colorful establishment, brightly lit and inviting us in to investigate. Nice open space on the inside, kind of parlor-old skool vibes, with a savory station at one side of the room and the sweet deserts and ice cream on the other side. We made our way towards the sweets- there are so many flavors of ice cream here, great selection with some interesting new flavors we hadn't tried before! We were kindly able to sample a few flavors to pick out what we wanted- opted for the raspberry cheesecake and red bean flavors, both very delicious, and cheap pricing! We were able to sit outside in the outdoor seating area to enjoy our icecreams. There is some indoor seating also if outside isn't calling you. They do other desert items and hot food savory snack food also, maybe will be back to try these. But definitely a great neighborhood spot for ice cream. ”
“ I remember this place from when we first moved into the neighborhood over 50 years ago at a location across the street. Their strawberry ice cream was always the best. Passing by to get dinner down the street, we decided to pick up some strawberry and vanilla ice cream. We picked up the 20 oz of vanilla and the 12 oz of strawberry. Wow, I remember why it was always such a treat way back because it definitely was outside of my parents budget to be a regular thing. Ok, let's get the elephant out of the room, it's not cheap to get ice cream here, but totally worth it if you can afford to buy premium ice cream. It's smooth and full of flavor. After all these years, the strawberry is still my favorite. This was our first visit, but we noticed that they have a burger section, so on a second visit, we decided to get burgers and fries for pick up hamburger and plain fries Cheese burger with bacon and garlic fries cheeseburger with grilled onions and curly fries Chocolate milkshake The milkshake was really good, 4.5/5 The burgers are more like smash burgers with crispy edges. 5/5 Amazingly. The fires were all still crispy when we got home, 4/5 Of course we got more ice cream. Chocolate chip vanilla and another tub of vanilla. They had strawberry, but strawberries are out of season and I'm willing to wait until they are in season. I would have preferred if they had cooked the garlic chips in the garlic fires a bit more. The fries themselves had a fragrant garlic taste and were really good, but the garlic chips on the fries were just a bit too raw. On the ice cream front, the chocolate chip vanilla ice cream seems to not have the same base as the vanilla ice cream. It threw the flavor off for me. Strawberry ice cream. 5/5. Actually. 6/5. When strawberries are in season. Get this. Don't bother in the dead of winter. Vanilla ice cream 5/5. Now my son won't eat anything you can buy at the grocery Chocolate chip vanilla. 3.5/5 They have tables where you can eat your ice cream and it decorated for kids Overall a great place to bring your kids for burgers and fries and ice cream. They provide a premium product, but know going in that it is at a premium price. ”
“ I absolutely adore this place! In addition to amazing ice cream and delicious food, Joes is incredibly community-oriented. The staff here are super kind and the place just feels so bright and inviting. There's a good amount of seating inside but also seating available outside in the parklet for those days when it's nice outside. When I came here, I tried the bulgogi burger, tokkochi, Seoul salad, and garlic fries. I'm not kidding when I say everything is so good! The burger was flavorful, the garlic fries were perfectly garlicky, the salad was refreshing and, and the tokkochi sauce was yummy! And of course I had to try the ice cream! I truthfully feel like you can't go wrong with any flavor. I do really love that they have Asian inspired flavors! Black sesame and the red bean flavor were good! My personal favorites were definitely cafferio and earl grey. I could have their earl grey ice cream everyday if I wanted to and never get sick of it. Coming back to the topic of community, I just appreciate how comfortable it is to eat here and how they find ways to interact with their customers. They have these fun coloring page contests for kids and from what I can see, they hold many fundraisers and participate in many community events! Overall, I think it's totally worth stopping by Joes, whether it be for the food, ice cream, or both. The people are incredibly nice, the place is fun, and the ice cream is delicious!! ”
“ This place and their sundaes literally remind me of ice cream from the county fair or Great America, major nostalgia factor! Joe's ice cream's been around since 1959 and they've definitely preserved that old-timey feel inside their parlor. They also have burgers and other savory items and seem very vegetarian friendly -- will be trying next time! The staff is pretty kind and they offer a wide variety of options to add to your scoop or sundae. We got an ice cream sundae with a scoop of raspberry cheesecake and a scoop of toasted almond. They topped it with chocolate fudge, whip cream, and almonds and it was definitely yummy. Nothing super crazy / mind blowing, but it just tastes so nostalgic and I feel like a kid again. ”
“ Can't go wrong ending the night with ice cream even if it's cold out! The ice cream here is always fresh and filled with options! The workers are so nice and quick and won't skimp out on the samples! This place was so busy but had a good rhythm going and it's always a fun time here! ”
“ Stopped by after walking nearby and noticed it was an asian-oriented ice cream AND burger joint? Interesting combo, but certainly something you'd find in Richmond! For a Sunday night it was still open late which was nice. I can't speak to the food although it looked tasty, but they have SO many ice cream flavors. If you like asian flavored ice cream (e.g. red bean or black sesame), they have it here in addition to traditional American flavors! Everything was pretty reasonably priced. I opted to get a Joe-It's (their take on the classic San Francisco It's-It's) which was only ~5 bucks and was delicious--just as good as an It's-It's but a bit fresher tasting. Had plenty of chocolate coating, two super soft cookies, and delicious ice cream in-between (they have 3 flavors to choose from--I opted for mint chip which was delicious). Would definitely be back to try their ice cream! ”
“ The chocolate chip mint and peach sorbet hit the completely hit the spot. The ice cream was very good and the service was friendly and the ambiance of the place was excellent. Highly recommended if you are ever in the mood for a treat! I give them 5 stars ”
“ I hadn't been to Joe's Ice Cream in years, not since they were located kitty corner to where they are now! This "new" location is so cute!! Everything is bright and clean looking with lots of cute things on the walls. They seem to offer more food items than I remember them offering when they were in their old location. I only had ice cream (actually dalgona coffee ice cream and passion fruit sorbet), but all the others had the bulgogi burger with the curly fries. Everyone loved their burgers! They looked really juicy and delicious; maybe next time! I had some of the fries dipped in gochujang sauce and they were pretty good. The portion of fries was huge, so they can definitely be shared! The burgers came with mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, and I think tomato and a side of bulgogi sauce, although there might have been sauce cooked with the patty, too. My dalgona coffee ice cream was absolutely delicious; so creamy and rich! After tasting it, I had to order it! And any time there's passion fruit anything, I *have* to have it!! The two balanced themselves; rich and creamy and light and tart! I believe they make all their own ice creams, sherbets, and sorbets. The women working there were friendly and welcoming, especially the young women. The older woman was a bit more reserved, but maybe there was a language barrier. Anyway, the young women more than made up for it! I always like to support family businesses, especially when the people working are nice! I'll have to go back soon and tow my grandkids along, too! ”
